POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead IT Trainer to manage the IT Training function and support the development and provision of a teaching/training service covering all levels and any areas of expertise within the scope of the information systems in Beaumont Hospital. Under JCI Accreditation, to ensure clinical and other members of staff are educated and trained on information systems appropriate to their role and responsibilities.

The provision of expertise in the development and training of Hospital staff, including determination of training and development needs in line with organisation or business requirements, production of training plans, design and delivery of training, liaison with external training providers, and evaluation of the benefits of training and development activities.

Responsibilities

Management

  • Manage & co-ordinate the IT training function for all relevant ICT systems and core office suite through provision of access, support and training for end users in Beaumont Hospital
  • Define work responsibilities and priorities for subordinate staff in IT Training
  • Supervise, coordinate, monitor and review, assigned duties of subordinate staff to ensure work plan goals are met and tasks are completed accurately and timely
  • Ensure attention to detail and a consistent adherence to procedures and standards within ICT and Beaumont Hospital
  • Engage with stakeholders at all levels of the hospital in relation to the IT Training function to, foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Represent the IT Training function/ICT Department at internal and external meetings as required
  • Manage and participate in performance management of subordinate staff, dealing with underperformance in a timely and constructive manner
  • Identify and agree training and development needs of subordinate staff and design plan to meet needs
  • Develop a process for regular staff meetings to keep subordinate staff informed, listen to their views and give staff an opportunity to discuss their concerns/issues
  • Regularly review workloads of subordinate staff members to ensure correct alignment of workloads
  • Manage the IT Trainers role in the onboarding of new staff to Beaumont Hospital to ensure a smooth and a most efficient process is followed, in particular for the large intake of NCHDs and Nursing staff
  • Work closely with the ICT Operations & Infrastructure Manager and the ICT Service Desk Manager to provide additional support and resources from within the IT Training team to frontline services.

Development and Training

  • The provision of expertise in the development and training of Beaumont Information Systems users, including determination of training and development needs in line with organisation or business requirements, production of training plans, design and delivery of training, liaison with external training providers, and evaluation of the benefits of training and development activities.
  • The Lead IT Trainer is responsible for ensuring that the IT Training Department is responsible for examining new areas of service delivery through understanding current market trends in IT Training to identify present and future needs and plan, develop, and modify programs
  • The Lead IT Trainer is responsible for ensuring that IT Training Department play active role in testing new systems during development stages from an end-users perspective to ensure IT Trainers are included from the outset

Documentation/Technical Authoring

The Lead IT Trainer is responsible for ensuring that the IT Training Department deliver the following:

  • Plan, design, preparation, and production of documentation to support the promotion, use, and maintenance of Beaumont information systems.
  • Manage the content of the IT Training internal Web page
  • Maintain up to date training records for all activity and produce year end reports and statistics for IT Training function

Education and Training Delivery

The Lead IT Trainer is responsible for ensuring that the IT Training Department deliver the key points below:

  • Develop a teaching/training service, covering core modules of our Information Systems
  • Create both classroom based and online programs for delivery of training
  • Deliver both classroom based and online programs using current software technology available in the Hospital
  • Trouble-shoot training help calls and provide user support as required

Training Materials Creation

The Lead IT Trainer is responsible for ensuring that IT Training Department deliver the key points below:

  • The creation of material aids to support both classroom based training and online training program.
  • Create and edit video content to incorporate into online training programs using current software technology

Change Management

The Lead ICT Trainer is responsible for the following key points:

  • Promote and participate in the implementation of change relevant to the role
  • Embrace change and adapt local work practices accordingly by finding practical ways to make policies work, ensuring team knows how to action changes
  • Encourage and support staff through change processes as they arise

Competence Development

To ensure that the core competencies required for this position are maintained through a program of enquiry, self-study and professional development education. The post holder is responsible for ensuring that his/her knowledge stays current - within the domain of his/her own area of responsibility. Each individual is responsible for ensuring that they keep abreast of developments by contributing to discussions and presenting formal training sessions to their colleagues in the department.

Service Focus

The primary role of Beaumont Hospital is the effective delivery of care to the patients it serves. It therefore follows that each member of the ICT staff in the hospital maintains a good working knowledge of the operational characteristics of the hospital. Because this is a critical service - each member of staff is required to respond to user enquiries in a co-operative, courteous and responsible manner so that the end user is left with a clear idea of how their query/request will be processed - and who they have been in communication with. Each member of staff must respect the hospital policy on confidentiality and privacy of information, the requirements to behave in a professional manner when dealing with other colleagues or members of the Public and recognise their role in contributing to the overall operations of the hospital
