GP Governance Lead

The GPGovernance Lead will oversee robust governance arrangements within the organisation to deliver high quality, safe and effective GP cover across local Urgent Care Services.
For the right candidate, there is an opportunity to combine this role with the 'GP Clinical Director for Urgent Care' role. In this scenario, clinical sessions would be adjusted to account for an additional two management sessions per week.
Main duties of the jobThe GP Governance Lead role aims to:
- Provide clinical governance oversight across working practices and systems including recruitment, audit and communications.
- Ensure patient safety and quality care, through maintaining compliance, managing risk and implementing learning.
- Promote an open and fair culture for GPs to ensure that incident reporting is encouraged, and lessons are learnt, focusing on corrective solutions.
- Support development of the service and GP role within urgent care.
- Lead on NGPS quality, clinical safety and risk management for GPs.
- Manage complaints and incidents occurring within Urgent Care settings, and disseminate learning.
- Undertake clinical audits and promote evidence based best practice across the service.
- Lead performance management of GPs.
- Work to maximise efficiency of the GP role in urgent care and support achievement of performance targets and KPIs.
- Provide supervision and professional oversight of the work of all GPs in the UTC.
- Assist in the dissemination of updates and patient safety related information to GPs.
- Support the Urgent Care Service Delivery Manager to recruit and on board GPs.
- Work closely with the GP Clinical Director for Urgent Care to deliver effective and high quality GP input across urgent care.
- Collaborate across the service and multidisciplinary team to drive improvement and support service development and innovation.
- Build relationships and effectively network with internal and external partners.
- Comply with all applicable policies and procedures.
- Ensure the handling of highly sensitive and confidential information is managed correctly and securely in line with applicable policies and procedures.
- Promote and maintain a positive culture which supports the organisation's values and prioritises the well being of staff.
- Work within applicable regulations, governance arrangements, and ethical frameworks.
- The post holder is expected to complete ad hoc locum clinical sessions across the UTC sites.
- Fully Qualified GP MRCGP for at least three years.
- GMC full registration and currently on a performers list.
- Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT).
- Evidence of a commitment to continuing professional development.
- Possess a valid UK work permit (if appropriate).
- Higher postgraduate educational activities in relevant fields.
- The ability & willingness to travel to sites.
- Member of defence union (MPS/MDU).
- Evidence of an annual NHS appraisal.
- Full driving licence.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Previous and current experience of working in primary care and an urgent care setting, including management of acute illness/injury in the UK.
