About Nottingham College

Nottingham College is proudto play a central role in education and skills across the city and wider region. As the main provider of technical and further education for young people and adults in Nottingham, we are rooted in our communities and committed to helping every learner realise their potential.

In December 2022, Ofsted rated Nottingham College as 'Good', recognising the progress we had made. Since this time, and with a strengthened leadership team, stable finances and a renewed focus on Nottingham and the communities we serve, we are continuing to improve at scale and we are proud to be a first-choice for students and partners, as evidenced by our growth and 97% of students progressing into employment or further education/training.

Investment in our estate has been significant. Our £58 million City Hub campus is a landmark for education in Nottingham, and we have recently invested around £10 million in capital projects. Our curriculum continues to evolve to meet the skills needs of Nottinghamshire and neighbouring counties, positioning us at the forefront of technical and vocational education.

About the roles

As a Governor of Nottingham College, you will be part of a talented and committed non-executive board team, working collaboratively to provide strong governance and strategic oversight. As the college continues to strengthen its impact, we are looking for individuals who bring energy, professionalism and sound judgement, alongside a genuine ambition for the college, its students and the city.

Our Board is made up of experienced governors from a wide range of sectors, including higher and further education, finance, law, private industry, SMEs, digital and the college itself. Together, they oversee the performance and long term direction of the college, ensuring we remain focused on our mission and strategic priorities.

Based on our plans for investment and change, we welcome interest from those that can strengthen and enhance our Board and we very much welcome candidates who will help diversify our leadership and governance.

Nottingham is a diverse, vibrant city and we are committed to ensuring that our Board better reflects the communities we serve. We recognise there is more to do, and we wish for our Board to share that commitment.

Candidates are sought with experience in strategic leadership in the following areas:

  • Finance
  • People and culture
  • Local employer / business leader
  • SEND, inclusion and safeguarding

As a governor, you will play a significant part in supporting the success of the many thousands of learners who will study and train with us in the years ahead.

Peridot Partners and Nottingham College are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and our client expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
