Job Description

Job Summary: Position is responsible for coaching student athletes in golf techniques to prepare them for competitive events. Position motivates student athletes to develop an appreciation for the sport.

Essential Duties:

  • Ability to effectively teach fundamental skills, strategies, concepts, and conditioning for high school level student-athletes
  • Works with student golfers during practices and events.
  • Assesses skills and assigns team positions.
  • Coaches and instructs players, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations,

equipment, and techniques of the sport.

  • Observes players, during events and practice to determine the needs for individual or team improvement.
  • Handles interactions with student athletes and adults with professionalism and integrity.
  • Models and supports the mission of educational athletics.
  • Possesses the character qualities that are required for leading in school and community.
  • Maintains a focus on player development, leadership, and character.
  • Ability to direct and develop the overall golf program within the structure of the MHSAA and Manchester High School guidelines
  • Works with the athletics director in scheduling facilities for practices.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior and provides proper supervision of students at all times.
  • Follows established procedures in the event of an injury.
  • Models good sportsmanship behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators.
  • Participates in special activities that may include parent's night, banquets, award nights, and pep assemblies.
  • Establishes and promotes a Youth Golf Program.
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required)

  • Background/experience in coaching as a Head Golf Coach, or equivalent preferred.
  • Must possess effective coaching techniques and skills.
  • Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents, and students.
  • Organizational skills and desire to build and maintain a competitive golf program.
  • Ability to read & interpret documents such as safety rules, operating & maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to coordinate with the athletic director.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of employment and student matters.
  • Ability to perform duties with an awareness of all district requirements and board policies.
  • Ability to effectively manage time and responsibilities.
  • • Ability to effectively communicate, orally and in writing, with students, parents, staff and the community.
  • Must complete and pass a full criminal background check.
  • Must complete/meet all requirements of the employee hiring process. This is an EDUStaff position, unless you are a Manchester Community School employee.

Salary/Compensation: Club Sport - $800.00
