Job Description

Pursuing a world class postgraduate education can equip professionals with the knowledge, leadership skills, and global perspective needed to drive meaningful change in their home countries. The Ireland Fellows Programme 2027/28 is a prestigious, fully funded scholarship that enables early to mid career professionals from eligible developing countries to pursue a one year master's degree at leading higher education institutions in Ireland.

Funded by the Government of Ireland through Irish Aid, the programme goes beyond financial support by developing future leaders who are committed to advancing sustainable development, strengthening institutions, and contributing to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Fellows also become part of a global network of professionals dedicated to creating lasting social and economic impact in their communities.

About the Fellowship

The Ireland Fellows Programme is one of the Irish Government's flagship international scholarship initiatives, created to strengthen leadership and professional capacity in developing countries through access to high quality postgraduate education.

The programme provides outstanding early to mid career professionals with the opportunity to undertake a fully funded one year master's degree at participating Irish higher education institutions. Eligible programmes typically begin in August or September and run for 10 to 16 months, depending on the course selected.

More than a scholarship, the programme is designed to nurture future leaders who will return to their home countries equipped with advanced knowledge, technical expertise, and leadership capabilities to address national development priorities. Participants study programmes aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals in areas such as agriculture, climate change, business, education, engineering, public policy, governance, health, human rights, information technology, and environmental sustainability.

The fellowship also promotes intercultural exchange, professional networking, and long term collaboration between Ireland and participating countries. Throughout their studies, fellows gain access to Ireland's internationally recognised universities, academic resources, leadership development opportunities, and a diverse global community of scholars. Upon graduation, fellows are expected to apply their knowledge and skills to strengthen institutions, improve public services, and contribute to sustainable economic and social development within their home countries.
