Job Description
General Practitioners (Sessional Out of Hours - face to face work)

At the PCCs, GPs will manage a varied case load, dealing with an array of urgent primary care presentations with direct booking from 111 and viaclinical team. Each PCC has a receptionist managing the flow of patients and waiting area. Each PCC is connected to our operating hubs and managed through our team leads. You will be supported by an on-site receptionist who can help with patient flow and any administrative tasks. We also have a 24/7 Operational Navigator (24/7) and Senior Clinical Navigator (08:00-midnight) who can offer guidance and support if needed.

Main duties of the job

Clinical Care & Patient Management

  • Provide comprehensive, patient-centred care, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of acute and chronic conditions.
  • Interpret diagnostic tests and use results to formulate effective treatment plans.
  • To work on our triage queue if there are no patients booked in.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, including receptionist and Senior Clinical Navigator to deliver integrated care.

Administrative & Professional Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate, timely, and legible record-keeping using Adastra.
  • Proactively manage a patient caseload with effective prioritisation and time management.

Patient Communication & Relationships

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with patients and their families through excellent communication and a caring manner.
  • Explain complex medical information clearly and sensitively, ensuring patients are involved in decisions about their care.
  • Promote health education and empower patients to manage their own health effectively.

Job responsibilities

You will play a key role by:

  • Managing a case load, dealing with a wide range of presenting health care needs and undiagnosed problems.
  • Providing care to patients via face-to-face appointments that are booked in by 111 or our clinical assessment service (CAS). Telephone consultation at base if there are no appointments.
  • Working in collaboration with other clinicians within the CAS to enhance patient experience and reduce ED admissions.

There are also opportunities to deliver triage sessions from sites and/or visiting shifts as well as UTC opportunities at:

  • Whittington Hospital 09:00-22:00 7 days a week.
  • West Middlesex Hospital 24/7
  • Imperial Sites including:
    • St. Marys Hospital: 24/7
    • Hammersmith Hospital: 08:00-19:00
    • Charing Cross Hospital: 08:00-midnight
Person Specification Qualifications
  • Registered with the GMC
  • Right to Work information or UK work permit (if required)
  • Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS)
  • Listed on the GMC GP Register with evidence of revalidation
  • Accepted Medical Degree
  • Medical indemnity with OOH component
  • Registered on the National Medical Performers List
  • Mandatory training certificates: to include Safeguarding Children Level 3 adults and children - Information Governance/Data Security Awareness - Infection Control, BLS and others as required.
