General Practitioner

We have an exciting opportunity for a General Practitioner to join our Primary Care team at HMP Long Lartin, a category A prison based in the village of South Littleton, Worcestershire. The site is around 10 minutes drive from Evesham and 45 minutes drive from Birmingham. There is a small inpatient unit, and the role involves end-to-end care with daily rounds on the wards.
Hours
Tuesday 9am-5pm / 8.30am-4pm
Wednesday 9am-5pm / 8.30am-4pm
Friday 9am-5pm / 8.30am-4pm
Salary
This is a full-time position with an annual salary up to £120,000 per annum FTE, depending on experience.

Main duties of the jobOur General Practitioners are valued and respected members of the Prison Healthcare community. Responsibilities will vary but include:
- Deliver first-class healthcare to a diverse group of patients and develop knowledge in areas beyond a typical practice or A&E setting
- Provide clinical assessment and diagnosis, and make timely decisions regarding future management
- Act as a highly specialist resource to other members of the healthcare team on site and support patients, with involvement in clinical governance and effectiveness activities

Qualifications and requirements Essential- MBChB or MBBS
- Inclusion on the GMC Register and GP Performers List
- Evidence of engagement with annual appraisal
- Experience working as a General Practitioner in community general practice
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Ability to work with patients with a history of substance misuse
- RCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse 1 and 2, or willingness to undertake these qualifications
- Experience in secure or custodial healthcare environments
- UK professional registration in current status
