Job Description

A well-established and forward-thinking accountancy practice in Oxfordshire is seeking to appoint a General Practice Partner as part of its ongoing growth and succession plans. This senior leadership opportunity will play a key role in shaping the future of a highly regarded regional firm. The practice supports a diverse client base of owner-managed businesses, SMEs, and private clients, with a strong emphasis on delivering commercially focused, relationship-led advice. The successful individual will inherit a profitable and well-established portfolio, providing an immediate platform while contributing to the firm's continued growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Take full ownership of a varied general practice portfolio, covering accounts preparation, tax compliance, and advisory work, ensuring high-quality, technically accurate delivery.
  • Act as the lead contact for clients, providing proactive, commercially focused advice on business growth, restructuring, tax planning, and succession, while building long-term relationships.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of qualified and part-qualified staff, overseeing performance management, recruitment, retention, and succession planning.
  • Drive business development through existing networks, referrals, and local market engagement, while identifying opportunities to broaden service lines and increase fee income.
  • Contribute to firm-wide strategic initiatives, including operational improvements, service development, and maintaining a high-performing, client-centric culture.
Qualifications/Experience Required
  • ACA or ACCA qualified with substantial post-qualified experience in a UK accountancy practice, currently operating at Partner or Director level.
  • Strong technical expertise across accounts, tax, and advisory work, with the ability to apply knowledge practically and provide commercially relevant solutions.
  • Commercially astute, with experience managing a portfolio of clients and acting as a trusted long-term adviser, identifying growth opportunities and contributing to business development.
  • Experienced leader, capable of managing, mentoring, and developing teams, fostering engagement, and supporting career progression in a collaborative environment.
  • Highly organised with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, confident engaging with clients and colleagues at all levels.
