Job Description
Weltec is a leading Engineering and Process Contractor General Operative (South East area) General Operatives Role / Requirements:

Weltec Engineering is a well-established and fast growing company providing high quality engineering and process solutions across Ireland. With a strong focus on innovation, safety, and client satisfaction, we deliver projects that consistently meet and exceed expectations. As we continue to grow and expand our client base, we are currently seeking an experienced General Operative to join our team in Waterford and support ongoing and upcoming projects throughout the South East area.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assist qualified trades (electricians, plumbers, fitters) with day to day tasks as required.
  • Perform general site duties such as manual handling, housekeeping, and basic labouring.
  • Prepare work areas, including setting up tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Move, load, and secure materials and equipment around the site.
  • Support installation works for mechanical and electrical systems under supervision.
  • Carry out basic tasks such as cutting, drilling, fixing supports, and installing containment (e.g., trays, conduits) as directed.
  • Assist with assembly or placement of mechanical components.
  • Follow all site safety rules, permit to work systems, and company procedures.
  • Use PPE correctly and ensure tools/equipment are used safely.
  • Report hazards, incidents, or unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organised work areas.
  • Work collaboratively with site supervisors, trades teams, and subcontractors.
  • Communicate progress, issues, and material needs promptly.
  • Support logistics, deliveries, and site set up activities.

Key Skills and Competencies:

  • Previous construction, M&E, or general labouring experience.
  • MEWP, Abrasive Wheel, Working at Heights, or other relevant tickets.
  • Experience on M&E contracting sites.
  • Full driving licence (suitable for travel across Southeast region).
  • Flexibility to work overtime or weekend shifts when required by project schedules.
