General Operative

A vacancy has arisen to join Peter Marshall Steel Stairs Ltd (Leeds) as a General Operative

Hours of work: 39 per week

Peter Marshall Steel Stairs is a specialist company principally engaged in the design, fabrication and installation of highly engineered steelwork, staircases and balustrade systems.

With the expertise and experience, Peter Marshall Steel Stairs can deliver wide ranging solutions, from small one-off applications to multi-site, multi-flight installations.

Role Purpose

We are looking to recruit a General Operative responsible for the following:

• Loading & unloading of steel sections and fabricated items for treatment & Site.
• Organising, checking & banding fabricated items for removal from factory to yard area in preparation of collection.
• Organising yard area to control goods and health & safety.

Role Responsibilities

• Cleaning and general housekeeping
• Handling and transporting heavy lifts
• Able to work independently
• Working effectively as part of a team to meet deadlines
• Ensuring all work complies with relevant health and safety legislation

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

• Experience; Previous experience in a labourer role with Forklift truck licence.
• Experience; previous experience working with steel or in a steel stockyard environment.
• Skills: Ability to follow instructions, perform physical tasks, and use tools and equipment safely
• Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift heavy objects, stand for long periods, and work in various weather conditions
• Communication: Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team
• Safety: Knowledge of safety practices and procedures
• Reliability: Strong work ethic, punctuality, and dependability
