OpportunitiesGeneral Manager opportunities across Southeast Asia, including Cambodia, Indonesia, Vietnam, and The Philippines.
What is the role?The General Manager will have a strategic and creative approach to ensuring the best possible guest and team member experience. They will be an ambassador of the brand, exemplify the company's core values, lead with passion and empower team members to optimize performance across all departments.
They will oversee the management of the hostel's facilities, be accountable for high standards of housekeeping, and project manage maintenance works. They will also grow accommodation bookings, optimise occupancy, prepare financial projections, and monitor and report on sales performance.
Key Responsibilities- Training & Management - Oversight of food & beverage, customer experience, front of house, housekeeping, maintenance, and a team of up to 50. Lead by example, motivate, resolve root causes of problems, empower and coach team members, foster personal development.
- People & Human Resources - Manage HR functions: scheduling training, updating HRM systems, disciplinary procedures, employment records, weekly team meetings and performance reviews, selecting new team members, staff tenure and salary information.
- Customer Service & Entertainment - Communicate and justify improvements, provide feedback to Marketing, maintain "Mad Monkey" culture, run events and entertainment, handle complaints swiftly and fairly.
- Financial Oversight - Control payroll, accounting procedures, budgeting, purchasing, inventory levels, and maintain accurate financial records.
- Maintenance & Quality Control - Perform daily property checks, monitor quality across departments, address malfunctions promptly, implement lasting process improvements.
- Sales and Marketing - Create promotions and events with the Events department, liaise with tour operators, resolve customer service feedback issues.
- Food and Beverage - Cost out offerings, ensure correct margins, market events and promotions, monitor stock control and audits.
- Reception and Customer Service - Oversee check in/out, interact with guests, provide local information, respond to communications, handle transportation requests, record guest concerns, maintain reservation accuracy.
- Housekeeping - Ensure cleanliness standards, conduct spot evaluations, maintain health and safety, schedule deep cleaning.
- Maintenance - Keep facilities in good order, respond to feedback, implement preventative maintenance schedules, conduct inspections.
- Purchasing and Inventory Control - Build vendor relationships, monitor inventory, place orders, source best prices.
- Accounting and Budgeting - Follow operational budgets, maintain expense and revenue records, manage cash flow, process payroll.
- Entertainment, Atmosphere, Activities - Maintain the "No Stress No Worries" experience, handle problematic guests, execute special events, record outcomes for improvement.
- Quality Control - Conduct regular audits.
- Health and Safety - Support company health and safety agenda, ensure compliance, manage hazards, report defects, attend statutory training, uphold risk assessments, and be prepared for audits.
