Job Description

Location: Plymouth

Salary: £70,000-£75,000 plus benefits package

Summary

We are seeking an exceptional General Manager to lead a 24/7 FMCG operation. This is a high profile leadership role with full responsibility for warehousing and transport, ensuring operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and commercial performance across a fast paced distribution environment. This opportunity is ideally suited to a strong people leader who can inspire teams, build engagement, and create a high performance culture while maintaining a relentless focus on service, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the overall performance of a 24/7 warehousing and transport operation
  • Drive a culture of engagement, accountability, and operational excellence across all levels of the business
  • Develop and motivate management teams, ensuring succession planning and talent development are embedded throughout the operation
  • Take full ownership of site KPIs, budgets, customer service levels, and financial performance
  • Ensure warehouse and transport functions operate safely, efficiently, and in line with all compliance requirements
  • Build strong relationships with customers and key stakeholders, acting as a trusted operational partner
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, efficiency, and service delivery
  • Deliver commercial objectives while maintaining a strong focus on customer satisfaction and operational standards
Key Skills/Experience
  • Proven General Manager experience within FMCG, logistics, distribution environments
  • Strong background across both warehousing and transport operations
  • Exceptional leadership skills with a genuine passion for people development and engagement
  • Commercially astute with experience managing budgets, costs, and operational performance
  • Experience leading large teams within complex, fast paced operations
  • Strong customer focus with the ability to build long term relationships and deliver service excellence
  • Track record of driving change, continuous improvement, and operational efficiencies
  • Resilient, hands on, and comfortable operating within a demanding 24/7 environment
