Roles and Responsibilities
In the 12-months Programme Management Placement, roles within the function are diverse and tailored to the needs of different teams. All roles focus on program management, customer support, and operational efficiency, with tasks that vary by team priorities and projects.
Responsibilities may include:
- Coordinating customer requests such as RFQs and purchase orders, ensuring deadlines are met through collaboration with supply chain and engineering teams, preparing customer order books, facilitating client calls, and ensuring high satisfaction and timely delivery.
- Support Program Management Reviews (PMRs) by managing calendars, preparing agendas, and tracking actions.
- Leading process improvement projects to enhance operational efficiency, implementing Lean principles, and analysing operational data to create performance metrics that drive team focus on strategic priorities.
- Cross-functional collaboration with Operations, Sourcing, Engineering, and Quality teams to meet customer and business objectives. Some teams may focus on facilities and maintenance, including asset reviews, day-to-day operations, contractor control, and long-term projects to support stakeholders.

You will be guided by structured goals and objectives and will be responsible for delivering on inspiring projects supported by your People Leader and team. You will be mentored and connected with other placement students across the UK. This opportunity is offered in Gloucester (Dowty, a GE Aerospace company) and Cheltenham sites.
Dowty, a GE Aerospace company is based in Gloucestershire. It is a world-leading supplier of electronically controlled, composite propeller systems for a wide range of civil and military applications. Key programs include the Lockheed Martin C-130J, the De-Haviland, Dash 8-400 and the Leonardo C-27J.
Dowty's in-house production expertise for composite blades includes resin transfer moulding, and braiding machines for fibre outer layers. Cheltenham is one of GE Aerospace's largest sites outside the USA, focusing on power distribution and avionics systems for the global aviation industry.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Currently studying a Business Administration/ Project Management/ Finance/ Data/ Engineering or Program Management related Bachelor's or integrated Master's degree
- On course to achieve a 2:1 degree or above
- Penultimate year of study and returning to education post placement
