The Role

We are now looking for two Gardeners to join us at West Herts Crematorium on a full time, permanent basis, working 37.5 hours per week. As a Gardener you will provide a high quality horticultural maintenance service across West Herts Crematorium, including the Garden of Remembrance and the Floral Terrace. Supporting the Gardening Team Leader, you will maintain lawns, flower beds, hedging and trees, while ensuring pathways and car parks are kept clear of litter and debris. You will also assist with winter gritting and adopt a sensitive, customer focused approach when interacting with mourners and members of the public.

Additionally, you will:

• Assist in maintaining ornamental features and the composting area
• Direct vehicles within the crematorium grounds when required
• Attend the Annual Remembrance Service and User Group Meetings
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations

Qualifications

• General grounds maintenance and horticultural experience
• A gardening or horticultural qualification, or equivalent experience
• Sensitivity to the needs of the bereaved
• Flexibility to work some weekends and public holidays on a rota basis
• A certificate in the spraying of chemicals, or the willingness to undertake the qualification
