The Organisation

Our client is dedicated to helping people in horticulture. They provide free support, advice, financial assistance, and services to horticulturists and their families when they're facing tough times.

They are now looking for a Garden Duty Supervisor to join them on a part-time, fixed-term basis, working 30 hours per week on a rota of 4 days out of 7, including regular weekends and Bank Holidays, until 31st October 2025.

The Role

As the Garden Duty Supervisor, you'll lead on the day-to-day operational running of the garden. This is a practical, customer-facing role that involves supervising staff and volunteers, opening and closing the site, serving refreshments, managing admissions, and ensuring a welcoming and safe environment.

Specifically, you will:

- Supervise daily operations and serve as the lead on duty during shift times

- Open and close the garden safely and on time

- Provide excellent customer service at admissions and in the café

- Serve teas, coffees, and light refreshments while maintaining food safety standards

- Operate point-of-sale (POS) tills, handle cash, and manage end-of-day procedures

- Promote our client and their membership scheme

- Oversee volunteers and ensure a positive working environment

- Support stock control, replenishment, and hygiene in the café area

- Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety and organisational policies

About you

To be considered as a Garden Duty Supervisor, you will need:

- Good all-round working experience in a public-facing role

- Excellent interpersonal and motivational skills

- Great organisational skills

- Ability to work well as part of a team

Experience in a role working with or alongside volunteers, food handling, and an understanding of health and safety would be beneficial to your application but are not essential. An active interest in gardens or gardening and flexibility in working arrangements would also be advantageous.

The closing date for this role is 27th July 2025.
