Position Summary

The FX Trader will be responsible for executing foreign exchange trades, managing risk exposure, and contributing to the overall profitability of the FX trading desk. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of global financial markets, strong analytical capabilities, and a proven track record in FX trading. This role requires quick decision-making, a strong sense of urgency, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Trade Execution: Execute foreign exchange spot, forward, swap, and option trades efficiently and accurately on behalf of the firm and its clients.
  • Market Analysis: Continuously monitor global economic indicators, geopolitical events, and market trends to identify trading opportunities and anticipate market movements.
  • Risk Management: Manage proprietary trading positions within established risk limits, utilizing various hedging strategies to mitigate potential losses.
  • P&L Responsibility: Contribute to the profitability of the FX desk by generating trading revenue and managing costs effectively.
  • Strategy Development: Develop and implement effective trading strategies and models, adapting to changing market conditions and regulatory environments.
  • Liquidity Provision: Act as a market maker, providing competitive quotes and liquidity to clients and internal desks.
  • Client Interaction: Collaborate with sales and relationship management teams to service client needs, provide market insights, and assist in developing client relationships.
  • Compliance: Ensure all trading activities adhere to internal policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements.
  • Technology Utilization: Leverage advanced trading platforms, algorithms, and analytical tools to enhance trading performance and efficiency.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present trading reports, performance analysis, and market commentaries to senior management.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
  • Master's degree or CFA designation is a plus.
  • Required licensing and registrations as applicable preferred.
Experience
  • Minimum of X years of experience in FX trading, preferably at a major financial institution or hedge fund.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing a trading book and generating consistent profits.
  • Proficiency in various FX products, including spot, forwards, swaps, and options.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a related role
  • Knowledge of respective products and clients
  • Advanced analytical and numerical competency
  • Ability to analyze and pitch situations and determine suitable counterparties
  • Knowledge of Bloomberg, booking systems, trading protocol, closing technicalities
Skills
  • Deep Market Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of global foreign exchange markets, including macroeconomic drivers, technical analysis, and market microstructure.
  • Analytical Prowess: Exceptional analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Risk Acumen: Strong understanding of market risk, credit risk, and operational risk, with proven ability to manage these effectively.
  • Decision-Making: Ability to make rapid, informed decisions under pressure and adapt quickly to changing market conditions.
  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced proficiency with trading platforms (e.g., Bloomberg, Refinitiv Eikon, EBS, Refinitiv Matching), Excel, and financial modeling.
  • Programming Skills: Experience with programming languages such as Python, R, or VBA for data analysis and strategy development is highly desirable.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of articulating complex market views and trading strategies clearly.
  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment, sharing insights and contributing to collective success.
