The Future Prison Leaders Programme

Become a senior leader with one of our most important institutions

Our Future Prison Leaders Programme selects people with the potential to progress quickly into a senior role in the Prison Service.

Supported and encouraged all the way

Apply for this three-year leadership pathway, and we'll assess you for the senior-level role we believe you could achieve. It's a competitive process, but if we select you, you'll startyour career as a prison officer and could be a senior manager by the end of the programme.

Combining focused leadership development with hands-on operational experience and guidance from experienced prison leaders, you'll receive all the support, encouragement and training you'll need to succeed.

Make a positive impact

Prisons can be demanding environments, so you'll need resilience, the confidence to assess risks and make sound decisions, and the ability to stay calm under pressure. And your success won't just depend on having leadership ambitions - we're looking for people who want to help others turn their lives around.

So, as well as playing a vital role in the successful running of our prisons, you'll support rehabilitation and help reduce reoffending. You'll be making a positive impact on society and the people you work with, while advancing your career in a workplace like no other.
