Job Description
The 11-18 (Secondary) QTS Programme - Business Studies at Bromley Schools' Collegiate

The programme prepares graduates to teach Business Studies in secondary schools and sixth form settings. It combines structured training with two contrasting school placements, supporting trainees to develop effective teaching practice and strong subject pedagogy.

You will be supported to plan and deliver engaging lessons, develop students' understanding of business concepts, economics, and enterprise, and help learners build analytical, evaluative, and decision making skills.

Course structure

The programme is delivered full time from September to July and includes two placements in contrasting secondary schools. The first placement runs from September to December, followed by a second placement from January to July. Throughout the programme, trainees receive ongoing mentor support and take part in professional training sessions.

Bursaries and scholarships ()

There are no DfE bursaries or scholarships available for Business Studies for the academic year.

Fees ()
  • QTS only: £8,100
  • QTS with PGCE: £9,535
Entry requirements

Applicants must hold a degree with a minimum classification of 2:2 (or equivalent). GCSE English and Mathematics at grade C / 4 or above are also required.

Candidates should have strong subject knowledge for teaching Business Studies at secondary level. This is normally demonstrated by having at least 50% of an undergraduate degree in Business, Economics, or a closely related subject, or a good A-level pass (grade B or above) in Business Studies or Economics, alongside evidence of continued subject knowledge development.

Free GCSE equivalency tests may be available for candidates who do not hold GCSE English and/or Maths, after an offer has been made and accepted. No prior school or classroom experience is required before applying.

Other requirements

All successful applicants will be subject to enhanced criminal record checks, health screening, and reference checks once an offer has been accepted.

Additional information

This programme is available for full time training only. Bromley Schools' Collegiate is not able to sponsor visas for this programme.
