Job Overview:

The Furniture Service Technician is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing damaged or defective furniture. This role involves working in customer homes, retail showrooms, and warehouses to restore items to their original condition. The ideal candidate possesses strong hands on skills in woodworking, upholstery, and leather repair.

Responsibilities:

• Furniture Repair: Restore wood, leather, fabric, and synthetic materials to original condition.

• Upholstery Work: Stitch tears, replace foam cores, and rebuild structural padding.

• Wood Restoration: Execute burn ins, colour matching, and minor scratch or dent touch ups.

• Mechanical Servicing: Troubleshoot and replace manual or electrical motion reclining mechanisms.

• Damage Inspection: Evaluate damaged furniture to diagnose manufacturing defects versus user misuse.

• Customer Service: Interact professionally with clients on site to address their concerns.

• Assembly Services: Build, align, and reinforce furniture frames and case goods safely.

• Reporting & Tracking: Photograph issues, document labour times, and log required parts via mobile apps.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years of hands on furniture repair or restoration experience.

• Proficient with varied materials including solid woods, veneers, textiles, and leathers.

• Masterful use of hand tools, power tools, spray finishes, and specialized stitching equipment.

• Capability to lift heavy items, bend, and kneel comfortably throughout the shift.

• A full, clean driving licence is mandatory for field service positions.

• Clear verbal communication skills for navigating client face to face interactions.

Working Conditions:

• Travel: Frequent travel required to customer homes or external retail spaces.

• Split between workshop settings, commercial warehouses, and residential spaces.

• Schedule: Standard daytime shifts with occasional Saturday or overtime requirements depending on volume.
