Full Stack Developer - SC Cleared (3+ Month Contract)

Location: Remote (with weekly on-site visit to Croydon or Manchester hub)
Clearance: Active SC Clearance required

Overview

We're looking for an experienced Full Stack Developer with active SC Clearance to join a high-profile government project. You'll work in a remote-first environment with occasional on-site collaboration (typically once per week) at either our Croydon or Manchester hub. This role suits someone who is confident working across distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and modern Back End services.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable full-stack applications within a secure environment.
• Build and optimise event-driven services using Java and Kafka.
• Contribute to API development, integration, and testing across multiple services.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including architects, DevOps engineers, and product owners.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and agile ceremonies.
• Ensure solutions meet security, performance, and reliability standards.

Required Skills

• Strong commercial experience with Java
• Hands-on experience with Kafka (producers, consumers, topics, event streaming)

Nice-to-Have Skills

Experience with any of the following is highly beneficial:

• Spring Framework, including Spring Boot and Spring Data
• Postgres
• OpenSearch/ElasticSearch
• NodeJS
• REST API development
• WireMock or similar tools for API mocking
