Fresh Food Duty Manager

We are delighted to work with a retailer located on the outskirts of Cork, only a 15 minute drive from the city. The role requires the management of multiple stations within the Fresh Food department. The ideal candidate will motivate himself and the team to keep the department up to the mark, working alongside store managers, maintaining store regulations, dealing with customer and staff inquiries, and being responsible for overall departmental performance.

Requirements

• Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to mentor a high performing team.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to handle customers in a fast paced environment.
• A keen eye for detail and ability to maintain excellent store standards.
• Good retail business acumen, including experience in driving sales, managing P&L and controlling costs.
• Passion for food product knowledge and maintaining them throughout the day.
• Extensive grocery or fresh food experience in retail, supermarkets and convenience stores.
• Strong organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including mornings and evenings.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee day to day shop floor operations, ensuring the store runs efficiently and maintains the highest standards.
• Manage supplier relationships, pricing strategies and stock control to reduce waste and optimise efficiency.
• Handle customer queries and complaints professionally, implementing strategies to enhance customer satisfaction, increase footfall and boost retention.
• Ensure allergens and cross contamination are managed daily.
• Drive sales across the Fresh Food Department, ensuring targets are met and exceeded through innovation, development and creativity.
• Increase product knowledge and empower the team to assist customers, provide advice and upsell.
• Ensure the team is compliant with company policies, including uniform and presentation.
• Accountable for stock handling, meeting KPIs/targets in relation to waste, shrinkage and transfers.
• Responsibility for ordering stock, ensuring a balance between availability and preventing waste, especially of perishable items.
