Job Summary
The Procurement Specialist will play a critical role in sourcing, negotiating, and managing suppliers and service providers across our global freight forwarding operations. This role requires a detail-oriented and results-driven professional with a deep understanding of procurement practices in the logistics and freight forwarding industry. The successful candidate will have at least 5 years of industry-specific experience and a strong command of both strategic sourcing and stakeholder communication.
Key Responsibilities
Vendor Management & Sourcing
- Identify, evaluate, and qualify suppliers and subcontractors (e.g., carriers, customs brokers, warehousing providers).
- Maintain strong supplier relationships and lead regular performance evaluations.
- Source competitive and compliant quotations for freight and logistics services.
Negotiation & Contracting
- Negotiate commercial terms, service level agreements (SLAs), and contracts to optimize cost, delivery, and quality.
- Ensure compliance with global procurement policies and legal requirements.
Cost Optimization
- Analyse spend data to identify savings opportunities and drive cost reduction initiatives.
- Monitor market trends, fuel surcharges, and industry benchmarks to support pricing strategies.
Process Management
- Collaborate with operations, finance, and legal departments to align procurement activities with company goals.
Risk Management & Compliance
- Assess supplier risk and ensure mitigation plans are in place.
- Ensure adherence to trade compliance, regulatory requirements, and ethical sourcing standards.
Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare procurement reports and dashboards for management review.
- Provide insights on procurement performance, market conditions, and supplier KPIs.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 5 years of procurement experience in the freight forwarding or logistics industry.
- Proven track record in strategic sourcing, negotiation, and vendor management.
- Experience working in a multinational environment with complex supply chains.
- Solid understanding of freight modes (air, sea, road), incoterms, and customs procedures.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in procurement systems and ERP platforms.
- Advanced skills in Excel and data analysis for spend tracking and decision-making. Good command in Power Point will be considered a strong plus.
- Strong understanding of logistics market dynamics and cost structures.
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO standards, anti-bribery laws).

- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities across cultures and functions.
