Freelance Senior Project Engineer - Cable Installation - Offshore Power

We are currently seeking (3x) freelance Senior Project Engineers for Offshore Power Cable Installation

These freelance roles offer the opportunity to take ownership of technically challenging subsea installation projects as part of a multidisciplinary team operating across Europe.

About the Company

You'll be working with an international engineering firm active in offshore energy and subsea infrastructure. The company supports complex installation projects across Europe and is known for its hands-on culture, technical expertise, and commitment to safety and quality.

As Senior Project Engineer, you will play a central role in the preparation and execution of offshore cable installation works. You will coordinate technical documentation, supervise junior engineers, and act as a key technical interface between onshore and offshore project stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the engineering preparation for offshore power cable projects, including methodologies, schedules, and equipment planning.
• Provide hands-on technical solutions to support safe and effective project execution.
• Supervise and mentor Junior Engineers within the project team.
• Coordinate with internal and external engineering specialists for complex calculations and verifications.
• Review project documentation and participate in technical meetings with stakeholders.
• Attend site mobilisations and demobilisations and lead pre- and post-project briefings.
• Ensure quality standards and compliance with internal documentation procedures.

Your Profile

You are a structured and experienced offshore engineer with excellent communication and coordination skills.

You bring:

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Offshore, Civil or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• A minimum of 5 years' experience in offshore power cable installation.
• Strong analytical abilities and a proactive mindset.
• Excellent command of English (written and spoken).
• Willingness to travel and to work a maximum of 50% from home, with regular presence on-site in the South of the Netherlands.
• A strong sense of responsibility for safety and operational excellence.

Project Details & Conditions

You will be part of a project-led, international organisation delivering offshore engineering solutions in the energy transition space. These freelance assignments include:

• A hybrid work setup: maximum 50% remote (from home), remainder on-site in the South of the Netherlands.
• For international candidates: housing and daily meal allowance are provided.

Duration

6-month freelance contracts (fixed duration).
