The Freedom of Information Officer and Legal Services Assistant will be responsible for providing a comprehensive service with respect to the Trust's obligations under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, and to provide an effective and comprehensive support function for all aspects of the work within the Legal Services Department.
The Legal Services Department deals with all information requests under the Data Protection Act 2018 and Freedom of Information Act 2000; this includes all claims (save for employment matters), inquests, ad-hoc legal issues, and staff education.
Main duties of the jobThe post-holder is required to work under the supervision of the Legal Services Manager, and will be open, transparent and trustworthy.
The post-holder will be expected to actively contribute to the overall running of the Legal Services Department, and all the services it provides.
Person Specification Qualifications- GCSE English and Maths or equivalent
- Law degree, other legal qualification or equivalent
- Root Cause Analysis Training
- Accurate recording and assimilation of complex information under pressure and to deadlines
- Dealing with challenging people
- Preparing and drafting documents to a high standard under minimal supervision, for internal or external publication
- Delivery of training/presentations
- Experience of working in a legal setting or equivalent
- Working knowledge of data protection, access to health records and FOI legislation
- Experience of handling evidence statement documents and involvement in the witness statement taking process
- Good working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Excellent organisational skills
- Familiarity with medical terminology
- Use of DATIX software
