Role Overview

JA The Bruntsfield is preparing for an exciting future, with a significant refurbishment planned over the coming year as we continue our journey towards Forbes Travel Guide standards.

Our Food & Beverage team is central to creating memorable guest experiences within The Neighbourhood Restaurant, Bar and Lounge. Whether welcoming guests for breakfast, serving lunch, delivering evening dining or creating a relaxed atmosphere within the bar and lounge, every interaction should reflect genuine hospitality and exceptional service.

As a Food & Beverage Assistant, you will work flexibly across the restaurant, breakfast service, lounge and bar, ensuring every guest enjoys a warm welcome and an outstanding dining experience.

Key Responsibilities Guest Experience

• Deliver friendly, professional and personalised service throughout every guest interaction.
• Provide knowledgeable recommendations on food and beverages.
• Create a welcoming atmosphere that encourages guests to return.
• Respond confidently to guest requests and resolve concerns professionally.
• Ensure every guest enjoys a memorable dining experience.

Food & Beverage Operations

• Work flexibly across breakfast, restaurant, bar and lounge service. (depending on what working pattern suits your life - we have flexible options for all)
• Prepare and maintain service areas to exceptional presentation standards.
• Serve food and beverages professionally and efficiently.
• Develop strong product knowledge of menus, wines, beverages and seasonal offerings.
• Maintain cleanliness and food safety standards at all times.
• Support colleagues during busy periods and hotel events.

Service Culture

• Bring the JA Resorts & Hotels philosophy to life by being Warm, Real and Fresh in every interaction.
• Support the hotel's progression towards Forbes Travel Guide standards through exceptional service and attention to detail.
• Participate in daily briefings, coaching sessions and continuous learning.
• Follow departmental Standard Operating Procedures and embrace opportunities to improve.

Teamwork

• Work collaboratively with Kitchen, Reception, Housekeeping and all operational departments.
• Support colleagues to create a positive and welcoming atmosphere for both guests and team members.

About You

• Previous Food & Beverage or hospitality experience preferred.
• Passionate about delivering exceptional customer service.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Professional appearance and positive attitude.
• Flexible approach to working breakfast, restaurant, lounge and bar shifts.
• Knowledge of luxury hospitality or Forbes standards would be advantageous but not essential.
