We have a fantastic opportunity for a Flexible GenerationField Service Engineer to join our Urban Reserve team to carry out general maintenance, installation, commissioning, and repair works as required to ensure the reliability and performance of electrical systems.

The role will involve
  • Working with the Urban Reserve Team, MTU and Terberg to ensure the O&M and troubleshooting of the operational Urban Reserve generation Assets.
  • Ensuring the reliability and performance of electrical systems (Voltages covered are 24kV-11,000kV)
  • Dealing with defect rectification post-handover of the assets during the bedding in period, until stable running is achieved. Routine tasks will involve electric fault finding, understanding the controls, replace start motors, throttles, ignition components and high level of mechanical aptitude.
  • Responding to equipment breakdowns, conduct efficient fault finding and implement effective solutions to minimise downtime.
  • Assisting the Flexible Generation Service Manager with any technical queries and support
  • Undertaking power plant planned maintenance as required and reactive maintenance during post commissioning /call outs with the swift and effective resolution of faults, supporting colleagues as required.
  • Promptly and comprehensively complete the appropriate planned and reactive maintenance reports in the required format using the online Protean system to provide relevant information in a suitable format which can be presented to the commissioning / projects team, to enable timely defect rectification of post commissioning faults.
  • Undertaking all tasks according to Health and Safety requirements and wearing correct PPE. Complete risk assessments and method statements for specific tasks as required.
  • Undertaking installation, surveying and repair works as required.

What we are looking for

An individual with demonstratable experience as an Electrical Engineer in a power environment with sound knowledge of controls and has the following knowledge, skills and experience -

  • Mechanical or Electrical Engineering educational qualification
  • Ability to complete site visit reports accurately and with good attention to detail
  • Skilled at resolving complex problems, identifying problems, and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions proactively
  • Excellent awareness and understanding of health and safety requirements
  • Experience of producing service and inspection reports to confirm tasks carried out, recommended actions and handover of equipment
  • A critical thinker, using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
  • Ability to go above and beyond to support business needs, including being adaptive to change and supporting others where required
  • Valid UK driving licence
