Job Description
Fire Safety Manager
Central London
Hybrid (3 days per week onsite)
£600 per day (Inside IR35)
3-month initial contract

Reporting into the Head of Compliance, you will lead on all fire safety matters across Southwark Council's housing stock. This is a strategic and hands-on role, ensuring compliance with fire safety legislation, managing a team of Fire Safety Surveyors, and driving continuous improvement in fire safety standards.

Your role as Fire Safety Manager:
- Lead Fire Safety Strategy:Develop and implement fire safety policies and procedures.
- Team Management:Lead and support a team of Fire Safety Surveyors.
- Technical Oversight:Produce and present detailed technical reports and specifications.
- Compliance & Auditing:Oversee fire safety inspections, audits, and contractor compliance.
- Training & Development:Deliver CPD training and support team competency development.
- Stakeholder Engagement:Liaise with the Fire Brigade and represent the Council in legal matters.
- Project Oversight:Manage procurement and performance of specialist fire safety consultancies.
- Qualifications:Level 4 Fire Safety Qualification and FSA Tier 3 accreditation.
- Expert Knowledge:Strong understanding of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, PAS 79, Building Safety Act, and relevant British Standards.
- Leadership:Proven experience managing fire safety teams and technical staff.
- Technical Reporting:Skilled in producing detailed reports and presenting to senior stakeholders.
- Local Authority Experience:Previous experience working within a council or housing association setting.
- Communication:Able to clearly explain complex fire safety issues to a range of audiences.
- Change Management:Experience instigating change in a complex technical environment.
