Finishing Department Operator

Location: This role is based on the company premises in Mitchelstown, Co. Cork.
Duration: Permanent, Full Time / 39-hour week
Remuneration: €40,000-€45,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Job Summary:

The Finishing Department Operator is responsible for carrying out a range of finishing processes to ensure products meet customer specifications and quality standards. The role involves sandblasting, polishing, electropolishing, passivation, and rumbling operations. Experience in TIG welding is desirable; however, candidates with strong finishing experience and a willingness to develop additional skills are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

The Primary duties of the Finished Goods Operator will be to take responsibility for:

• Carry out sandblasting and surface preparation activities on finished products.
• Perform polishing and finishing activities to achieve required surface finish standards.
• Conduct electropolishing and passivation processes in accordance with work instructions and safety procedures.
• Operate rumbling equipment to achieve specified surface finishes and deburring requirements.
• Perform TIG welding operations (where required) to approved standards and specifications.
• Inspect components before, during, and after finishing processes to ensure compliance with quality requirements.
• Identify and report any defects, non-conformances, or production issues.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, work instructions, and technical specifications.
• Maintain high standards of workmanship and product quality.
• Ensure all finishing activities are completed safely and efficiently.
• Complete production and quality documentation accurately.
• Maintain equipment and housekeeping standards within the finishing department.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and company procedures.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across production and quality teams.

The Ideal Candidate will have the following:

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with stainless steel or precision-finished components.
• TIG welding experience or certification would be advantageous but is not essential.
• Knowledge of quality management systems and inspection techniques.2+ years recent experience in a CNC Machining Environment

Skills and Experience:

• Experience in sandblasting, polishing, and general metal finishing processes.
• Experience with electropolishing, passivation, and rumbling/tumbling operations.
• Previous experience working in a manufacturing, engineering, fabrication, or finishing environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality finishes.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions.
• Experience in TIG welding would be advantageous but is not essential. Training may be provided for the right candidate.
• Understanding of quality standards and inspection requirements.
