Finance Controller
Location: Dudley
Job Type: Full-time
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday (Flexible) - Fully office based
Rate: £19ph (DOE)
Reporting to: Finance Director
Our client, an established and growing manufacturing business are looking for an experience Finance Controller to join it's finance team.
This is a hands-on and varied finance role, reporting directly to the Finance Director and supporting the day-to-day financial and commercial running of the business.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for a broad range of financial activities, including financial reporting, P&L and Balance Sheet preparation, banking, BACS payments and reconciliations, while also helping to oversee the Purchase Ledger and Credit Control functions.
This role would suit an experienced finance professional who enjoys working in a busy business environment and is comfortable taking ownership of day-to-day finance operations.

- Financial Control & Reporting.
- Prepare accurate Profit & Loss (P&L) accounts.
- Prepare and maintain Balance Sheets.
- Produce regular financial and management reports.
- Maintain accurate financial records and documentation.
- Assist with month-end and year-end procedures.
- Identify and investigate financial discrepancies.
- Provide financial information and analysis to the Finance Director.
- Support the Finance Director with financial planning and reporting.
- Manage day-to-day banking activities.
- Prepare and process BACS payments and transfers.
- Monitor BACS transactions, including rejected and returned payments.
- Monthly, Weekly, and Daily financial reports.
- Investigate and resolve payment rejections and discrepancies.
- Complete regular bank reconciliations.
- Ensure payments are processed accurately and on time.
- Help oversee the Purchase Ledger function.
- Provide cover for Purchase Ledger duties when required.
- Process and reconcile supplier invoices and statements.
- Deal with supplier queries and payment issues.
- Help oversee Credit Control activities.
- Monitor outstanding customer accounts and overdue payments.
- Follow up outstanding debts and assist with resolving account queries.
- Provide cover across the finance team as required.
- Support the day-to-day financial running of the business.
- Work closely with the Finance Director and wider management team.
- Ensure financial procedures and controls are followed.
- Assist with ad-hoc financial projects and reporting.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial and commercial information.
- Provide flexible support across the finance function during busy periods.
Successful Candidates will have:
- Previous experience as a Finance Controller, Financial Controller, Management Accountant, Senior Accountant or similar.
- Strong understanding of financial accounting and bookkeeping.
- Experience producing P&L and Balance Sheet accounts.
- Experience with BACS payments and banking.
- Experience with bank reconciliations.
- Good knowledge of Purchase Ledger and Credit Control.
- Strong Excel skills and experience using accounting or finance systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- The ability to work independently and manage priorities.
- Good communication skills.
- A practical, hands-on approach to finance.
- The ability to work effectively in a busy office environment.
