With an asset size in excess of €170 million, the credit union has seen significant growth in recent years across its 5-branch network located throughout Co. Limerick and Tipperary.

The Role

We are delighted to invite applications for the position of Finance Officer at Tipperary Credit Union. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity working 35.5 hours per week across five days, with a rotational schedule of Monday to Friday and Tuesday to Saturday. Candidates should be flexible to travel throughout the branch network as required.

Reporting to the Senior Finance Officer (SFO), the Finance Officer will play a key role in supporting the effective operation of the Finance Department. The successful candidate will be involved in daily finance activities, cash management, bank reconciliations, supplier payments, payment processing and month-end procedures, ensuring the delivery of accurate and timely financial information.

The role will also support the maintenance and enhancement of internal controls, provide cover for key finance processes, and work closely with the Senior Finance Officer and Chief Financial Officer in supporting the credit union's financial objectives and ongoing development. While finance will be the primary focus, the successful candidate may also provide support across other areas of the credit union in line with business needs.

Requirements

A minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role, with good working knowledge of accounting principles, financial records, transaction processing and general bookkeeping practices.

Previous experience completing bank reconciliations, investigating reconciling items and maintaining accurate financial records.

Strong attention to detail, with excellent organisational, numeracy and analytical skills.

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with proficiency across the Microsoft 365 suite, including Word, with the ability to quickly learn new systems and processes.

Cash handling experience is desirable.

Experience in a credit union, banking or other regulated financial services environment is desirable.

A relevant accounting, bookkeeping or financial qualification is desirable; however, applications are also welcomed from candidates with strong relevant experience and a willingness to further develop their qualifications.

Open to completing minimum competency qualifications such as QFA, supported by the credit union.
