Job Description

Role: Finance Manager / Management Accountant

Salary: Up to £50,000 Per Annum

Location: Barnsley

Working Pattern: Monday - Friday

Our client is looking for a Finance Manager/Management Accountant who will be responsible for supporting the Managing Director in respect of preparation, collation and reporting of P&L and balance sheet monthly results. You will also be responsible for ad-hoc data analysis and reporting on an ongoing basis to improve management information and share across the business.

Duties:

  • Management Accounts
  • Supporting the Annual Budgeting and Forecasting for the business
  • VAT, PAYE, Corporation Tax and Audit
  • Financial reporting and analysis
  • Accurate and timely production of monthly management accounts
  • Timely returns to HMRC on VAT, PAYE, Corporation tax and any other requirements
  • Monthly production of management accounts including variance analysis
  • Monthly production of balance sheet reconciliations including variance analysis
  • Weekly Cashflow reporting.
  • Foreign currency trades
  • Support Forecasting & Budgeting process
  • Ensuring finance related processes are recorded and kept up to date
  • Management and development of Accounts Assistant
  • Compliant HMRC returns and audit process
  • VAT returns including Irish VAT
  • Analysis required to support the business including supplier analysis and commercials to ensure efficiencies within the business.
  • Review of monthly and bi-weekly payroll prepared by payroll administrator.
  • Management of AR and AP process including approval of payments and escalation of customers.
  • Credit checking any new customers.
  • Management of credit insurers including bi-weekly updates to the insurance portal

Successful candidate: -

  • ACA, ACCA, CIMA qualified, or QBE with a minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar finance role.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK accounting standards and HMRC compliance regulations.
  • Proficient in Excel with hands-on experience using accounting systems such as Sage.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with non-finance teams.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Previous payroll experience (desirable).
  • Experience with stocking (desirable).
  • Understanding of import/export processes and international trade finance (desirable).

  • Actively supports health & safety, team collaboration, policy compliance, and mentoring of finance staff.
