Job Description
Finance Director

The Role

We're looking for a commercially sharp Finance Director ready to step beyond traditional finance and take full ownership of business performance.

This role will suit someone who has mastered the numbers, understands how value is created operationally, and is ready to lead across revenue, cost, deals, people, and outcomes.

You'll set financial strategy, drive budgeting and forecasting, strengthen governance, and deliver clear insight to support sustainable growth. The role also spans investment decisions, acquisitions, commercial negotiations, and continuous improvement of systems, processes, and reporting. You'll build a high performing team and raise the standard of data and decision making across the organisation.

For the right person, this is a genuine pathway from FD to MD, offering influence, visibility, and long term upside.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the financial strategy and operating model, ensuring alignment with growth and profitability goals.
  • Drive annual budgets and rolling forecasts, introducing scenario planning and sensitivity analysis.
  • Strengthen cash flow management, balance sheet discipline, and working capital performance.
  • Produce accurate, timely management accounts and Board reporting with clear, forward looking insight.
  • Build and maintain executive dashboards; embed KPIs and performance rhythms across the organisation.
  • Partner with and challenge budget owners to ensure accountability for targets, costs, and investment returns.
  • Upgrade end to end finance processes, automate workflows, and enhance system configuration and reporting.
  • Assess team capability; define structure, roles, and development plans; recruit and onboard talent as needed.
  • Oversee property related finance including business rates, leases, and landlord negotiations.
  • Lead the finance workstream for M&A: evaluation, modelling, due diligence support, integration, and post deal tracking.
  • Maintain strong internal controls, compliance readiness, audit support, and risk management frameworks.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Operations, IT, and other functions to elevate data quality and decision making standards.
Experience
  • Fully qualified ACCA/ACA with a strong foundation in accounting, financial controls, and best practice governance.
  • Extensive experience across finance leadership, reporting, forecasting, and strategic planning.
  • Proven success in senior roles such as Senior Finance Manager, Head of Finance, Finance Director, or equivalent.
  • Confident presenting to senior leadership and Boards, with a track record of influencing strategic decisions.
  • Experience with NetSuite (implementation or advanced reporting) and broader finance transformation projects.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to deliver solutions in fast moving, high growth environments.
  • Highly analytical, with a history of driving efficiency, automation, and performance improvements.
  • Exposure to property finance, including lease terms and landlord negotiations, is an advantage.
