About the Role
We're recruiting for a Field Service Engineer (Calibration & Test Equipment) to join a specialist engineering business based in Milton Keynes.

Our client is a well-established, internationally recognised engineering business with more than 60 years of experience designing, manufacturing and supporting specialist testing and measurement equipment. Their products are trusted by customers across a wide range of industries where precision, reliability and quality are essential.

Operating on a global scale, the company supports customers throughout the UK and overseas, providing installation, calibration, maintenance and technical support for a comprehensive range of specialist equipment. With a strong reputation for engineering excellence and innovation, they continue to invest in new technologies and are committed to delivering exceptional customer service.

Joining the business offers the opportunity to work with advanced testing and measurement systems, travel to a diverse range of customer sites across the UK and internationally, and become part of a knowledgeable and supportive engineering team where no two days are the same.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with strong mechanical fault-finding skills who enjoys a varied role combining workshop-based repairs with customer site visits.

You'll service, maintain, repair and calibrate specialist force measurement and testing equipment while delivering first-class customer support. The role is split between the workshop and customer sites, with regular travel throughout the UK and occasional international travel. As part of the role, you'll need a valid passport and be happy travelling when required.

If you have experience in field service, maintenance, calibration, instrumentation or test equipment and are looking to further develop your engineering career, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Service, maintain and calibrate specialist force measurement and testing equipment.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance and repairs at customer sites.
  • Travel to customer locations throughout the UK and internationally as required.
  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic and basic electronic faults.
  • Replace components, including PCBs where required.
  • Use calibration equipment and accurately record test data.
  • Produce calibration certificates and detailed service reports.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Ensure all work complies with relevant testing standards and quality requirements.
  • Build positive relationships with customers and provide professional technical support.
  • Manage your own workload while working independently both on-site and in the workshop.

What We're Looking For
We're keen to speak with engineers who have experience servicing, maintaining or repairing engineering equipment. You don't need direct experience with the client's specific products, but you should have a strong engineering background and be confident diagnosing mechanical faults.

Essential Skills & Experience
  • Experience servicing, maintaining or calibrating engineering equipment.
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding skills.
  • Good understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Basic electronics knowledge, including the use of a multimeter and PCB replacement.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Good IT skills with experience producing reports and recording calibration data.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Valid passport and willingness to travel throughout the UK and internationally.
  • Professional and confident communication skills with the ability to build relationships with customers at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
  • Good level of physical fitness, as some calibration equipment requires manual handling.

Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:

  • Force measurement or test equipment.
  • Calibration or instrumentation.
  • Load cells, LVDTs or electronic transducers.

  • A varied role combining workshop-based work with field service.
  • Opportunity to work with specialist force measurement and calibration equipment.
