About the job

WE'RE HIRING - FIELD SERVICE ENGINEER

Northern Ireland Full-Time, Permanent

Wishart Group (NI) Ltd is looking for a Field Service Engineer to join our established engineering team.

Established in 1985, we specialise in the Sales, Service, Repair and Calibration of Laboratory and Weighing Equipment.

The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for the servicing, calibration, re-verification and repair of patient weighing equipment across NHS/HSC hospitals and healthcare facilities throughout Northern Ireland.

The Role

  • Service, calibrate and repair patient weighing equipment, including chair scales, wheelchair scales, platform scales, bed scales and baby scales.
  • Carry out accuracy testing and re-verification using certified calibration weights.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical, electronic and mechanical faults.
  • Complete service reports and calibration documentation.
  • Work independently, travelling to hospitals and healthcare facilities across Northern Ireland.

IMPORTANT - THIS IS A PHYSICALLY DEMANDING ROLE

We want to be upfront about the physical nature of this position. This is not simply a technical job involving a laptop and a screwdriver!

A significant part of the working day involves lifting, carrying, loading and unloading heavy calibration weights, moving equipment and working in different hospital environments. Applicants must be physically fit, comfortable with manual handling and willing to undertake demanding practical work on a daily basis. Safe working practices and appropriate handling equipment are used, but a good level of physical fitness is essential.

What We're Looking For

  • Electrical, electronic or mechanical background.
  • Good practical fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
  • Competent computer skills.
  • Ability to work independently and organise workloads.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Previous experience with weighing equipment or calibration would be advantageous, but training can be provided.

What We Offer

  • Attractive salary package, depending on experience.
  • Daily lunch allowance.
  • Company van, fuel and insurance provided.
  • Company mobile phone.
  • Specialist technical training.
  • Predominantly local work throughout Northern Ireland.
  • Established, family-run business with a supportive engineering team.

Interested?

If you're technically minded, enjoy practical hands-on work and don't mind a physically demanding working day, we'd like to hear from you.
