Job Purpose

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Service Support Engineer to provide a comprehensive, cost-effective, and efficient engineering service across the Betfred UK Retail Estate. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting, maintaining, repairing, and refurbishing IT equipment within our network of High Street Licensed Betting Offices.

Job Duties

Responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of network infrastructure, audio/visual systems, CCTV, self-service terminals, IT equipment, and associated peripherals.

Provide regular updates to the engineering management and maintain daily communication with the Retail Service Desk and Retail Support teams.

Ensure full compliance with all relevant Health and Safety legislation.

Report for duty as scheduled, ensuring all required equipment is available, and coordinate with Workshop and Logistics as needed.

Maintain, support, and deliver betting-related technical hardware and equipment promptly to minimize operational downtime.

Ensure high standards of technical support are upheld during regular business hours and key sporting events.

Accurately complete installation reports and sign off on Retail Incident tickets.

Install and decommission stock using Stock Audit systems.

Ensure the security and safe storage of equipment when not in use.

Submit daily timesheet reports accurately and on time.

Communicate proactively with internal and external departments as required to support operational efficiency.

Conduct daily checks on the company vehicle, maintaining a clean and professional appearance both inside and out.

Comply with all company policies, procedures, and operational guidelines.

Work in a safe and responsible manner at all times, escalating any safety concerns to Senior Management.

Perform any other reasonable duties assigned by a senior line manager.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Possession of a full, valid driving licence is essential.

Willingness to travel medium to long distances as part of the role.

Flexible and adaptable to varying work schedules, including weekends, Bank Holidays, early mornings, and evenings, based on business needs.

Comfortable with short- to medium-term travel and staying away from home when required.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both written and verbal forms.

Proficient in general computer usage, including common software applications and digital communication tools.

Solid problem solving abilities with a logical and analytical approach to troubleshooting and decision making.

Competent in technical operations relevant to the role, with the ability to learn and apply new tools and systems effectively.

Working knowledge of networking principles and the ability to support basic network infrastructure and configurations.

Practical experience in Audio/Visual (A/V) installation and RF (Radio Frequency) distribution, including familiarity with related tools and standards.

Demonstrated ability to follow instructions accurately and execute tasks efficiently.

Maintains composure and professionalism in high pressure or fast paced environments.

Takes a proactive and solution oriented approach to responsibilities and challenges.

Exhibits a friendly, approachable demeanor and fosters positive working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.

Capable of managing time effectively to meet tight or shifting deadlines.
