Established in the early 2000s, this privately owned company specialises in supplying a portfolio of surface characterisation equipment and instrumentation to materials sciences, life sciences, semiconductor and research applications industries across the Benelux and Scandinavian regions. Their portfolio includes Atomic Force Microscopes, Optical profilers, MicroCT, Thin-film measurements, Mechanical testing equipment (indentation, scratch and tribology), Surface analysis equipment (XPS, auger, SIMS) and Active vibration isolation systems.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to add an experienced Service Engineer to the existing service team of 4.

Role and responsibilities

• The installation and commissioning of mechanical testing and characterisation instruments at customer sites across the BENELUX & Nordics territories
• Training of customers in the operation & use of instruments
• Carrying out routine preventative maintenance visits
• Responding to emergency service call-outs and repairs
• Fault diagnosis and resolution using both mechanical, electrical and software fault-finding skills.
• Providing full written reports on activities

The Person

To be successful in this role, you should have at least 2-3 years of experience as a service engineer, working with complex equipment analytical instruments such as optical microscopes, laser deposition systems, photonics devices, sample preparation tools, electron microscopes, spectrometers, X-ray CT systems, MRI scanners, particle analysis machines, or similar.

• A background in Electronics or Mechatronics is highly desirable. Minimum level BSc in a related field.

• Willingness to travel frequently for on-site customer support across the BENELUX region - typically spending 1 week per month away from home on average
• Fluent in English and Dutch

Travel

This person will be travelling around 60% of the time, both nationally and internationally across the BENELUX region - we are looking for someone who has the freedom to travel and enjoys being customer-facing. All travel is arranged during the working week (Monday-Friday).
