Farm Veterinary Surgeon - York

Responsibilities
  • Manage a varied farm caseload, primarily beef and sheep, with opportunities to handle dairy, camelid and export cases
  • Collaborate with a close-knit five-vet team and maintain strong client relationships
  • Deliver high-quality livestock care and contribute to the practice's ongoing development
  • Work full-time (40 hours per week) with a rota of one night on call per week and one weekend in five (with a day off in lieu)

A well-established, RCVS-accredited farm practice just outside the historic city of York is seeking a Farm Veterinary Surgeon to join its cohesive team. This position suits a dedicated vet who values lasting client relationships and high-quality livestock care.

About the Practice

Founded in 2000, the practice focuses on livestock while supporting smallholdings, open farms and owners of companion farm animals. The team includes experienced vets, some with specialist certificates, offering advice on parasitology and fertility, among other areas. The practice contributes to farming media, presents at international conferences, and trains future farm vets.

Location

Located a few miles east of York with easy access to the North York Moors, Yorkshire Wolds and the east coast. York offers rich history, cultural events and excellent transport links, including a rail service to London in under two hours.
