An established and diversified rural estate in Cumbria is seeking a driven and hands-on Farm Manager to lead the next stage of its farming operations.
The large estate extends across multiple farms, with an exciting renewables strategy and significant ongoing investment in diversification projects. Recent land acquisitions and a forward-thinking management structure mean the farming enterprise is at a pivotal point of change.
The Role:
We are looking for a practical and commercially minded individual to take ownership of the estate's farming operations. This role requires a balance of leadership, operational involvement, and strategic oversight. Key responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing arable and forage cropping, rotations, and land management.
- Managing a team of farm operators, instilling accountability, structure, and efficiency.
- To be part of, and work closely with the wider estate management team to align farming outputs to the wider estates goals and future diversification Driving improvements in performance, culture, and cost management.
- Hands-on involvement in operations
- Budget responsibility and reporting to the board.
The Candidate:
- Strong practical farming knowledge with the ability to step into operations when required.
- Proven leadership qualities and the confidence to drive cultural change.
- A balance of practical and computer-based management skills.
- Ambition to grow with the role and engage with wider estate projects such as renewables and game shooting.
- Ideally suited for an experienced manager or an experienced operator looking to take the step up into management.
