Family Liaison Officer SEMH/Autism School Location: Mole Valley, Surrey Salary: £35,000 £40,000 (dependent on experience) Contract: Permanent, Full Time Start Date: September 2025 Reporting to: Pastoral & Wellbeing Lead

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and young people with social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH) and Autism? Do you thrive on building strong relationships with families and the wider school community?

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Family Liaison Officer to join our dynamic team at School Name , a specialist setting committed to supporting pupils with SEMH and Autism. This pivotal role is designed to strengthen the bridge between home and school, ensuring that every child receives the holistic support they need to thrive.

Key Responsibilities: Act as the main point of contact for families, supporting them with engagement, communication, and access to relevant services.

Work closely with the Pastoral Lead and wider school team to identify and address barriers to pupil progress and wellbeing.

Support families through periods of crisis or transition, providing advice, emotional support, and signposting to external agencies.

Promote positive parenting strategies and contribute to the development of parent workshops and school events.

Maintain accurate records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with safeguarding protocols.

To act in a calm, sensitive and highly professional manner as the school s representative at all
times.

To uphold the school s values, ethos and professionalism and to respond immediately to issues, complaints and enquiries received from parents, seeking
guidance and advice from department leads, respond verbally, in person and in writing,
working in close liaison with and under the direction of the Pastoral and Wellbeing Lead.

To ensure the resolution of grievances/concerns/complaints are achieved; to conclude
promptly without further escalation such parental communications closing the issue and
restoring positive relationships between all parties.

To act in a proactive and initiative-taking manner ensuring that potential matters are
addressed to avoid protracted unrest.

To provide regular feedback to the Head Teacher and wider SLT on issues arising from
parents, recording each stage and outcome using statistical database and analytical
submissions to SLT on trends and exceptions every 6-weeks.

Maintain and analyse Compliments and Complaints file for submission to the Governing Body.

About You: Experience of working with families and children in a school, social care, or community setting preferably within a SEN or SEMH context.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with diverse families.

Strong understanding of safeguarding, inclusion, and the challenges facing children with SEMH/Autism.

A proactive, resilient, and empathetic approach to problem-solving and relationship-building.

Qualified Teacher Status or Qualified Social Worker/ DSL of Deputy/ Team Teach or similar Tutor
