We're recruiting a Family Help Practitioner to join our Children's Services team at Milton Keynes City Council.
You'll be based in a Family Help Hub, working directly with children and families who need support. This is a rewarding, front line role where you'll build strong relationships, act as a consistent point of contact, and help families make positive and lasting changes.
In this role, you'll support families with medium to high levels of need, helping to identify challenges early and putting plans in place to improve outcomes for children.
Site Based role
This is a Site Based role, and you'll be expected to work from the designated workplace.
Interviews for this role will be held on 3rd July 2026
Responsibilities- Work within a multi disciplinary Family Help Hub to build trusted relationships with families
- Carry out assessments to understand the needs and risks for children and families
- Develop and deliver tailored support and intervention plans
- Manage a caseload of families with medium to high levels of need
- Maintain accurate records and produce clear, high quality reports
- Work closely with partner agencies to deliver joined up support
- Deliver parenting programmes to support confidence and behaviour management
- Complete regular visits and monitor progress against plans
- Has a relevant Level three qualification or equivalent experience
- Understands the safeguarding and legislative framework for working with children and families
- Communicates clearly and can build strong, trusting relationships
- Works well as part of a multi agency team
- Can assess needs, solve problems and develop effective support plans
- Is organised, self motivated and able to manage a varied workload
- Can write clear records and use systems confidently
Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle
To be successful in this role, you'll need a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle. If we offer you the role, we'll ask you to provide evidence of your driving licence and vehicle insurance, including cover for business use. We're unable to confirm an appointment until these documents are received.
As part of the pre employment checks, should you be offered the role, we'll carry out an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, (unless you are currently registered with the DBS Update Service).
