Facilities Team Leader

Job Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate the day-to-day activities of the facilities team to ensure efficient site operations.
  • Oversee planned and reactive maintenance activities, ensuring issues are logged, prioritised, and resolved promptly.
  • Support compliance with health and safety requirements, working practices, and site procedures.
  • Conduct regular inspections of facilities and site areas, identifying risks and driving corrective actions.
  • Manage supplier and contractor relationships, ensuring work is completed to required standards and within agreed timelines.
  • Maintain accurate records for maintenance, inspections, and compliance documentation.
  • Assist with budgeting and resource planning for facilities-related activities where required.
  • Ensure facilities services meet agreed service levels, responding effectively to site needs and escalations.
  • Promote a positive safety culture and ensure team members follow safe systems of work.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability, efficiency, and customer experience.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Proven experience in facilities management, building services, or a similar operational leadership role.
  • Strong leadership and team coordination skills, with the ability to motivate and guide others.
  • Sound knowledge of health and safety practices, including risk assessment and safe working procedures.
  • Experience managing contractors and overseeing maintenance activities to completion.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise workload and manage competing demands.
  • Strong communication skills, able to liaise effectively with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
  • Competent IT skills for maintaining records and using facilities systems (e.g., maintenance logs and reporting tools).
  • Relevant qualification in facilities management, building services, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Relevant certifications in health and safety (for example, IOSH or NEBOSH) are desirable.
  • Working knowledge of compliance and statutory maintenance requirements for commercial sites.
