A varied opportunity for an experienced facilities professional to help keep a busy school safe, compliant, well maintained and welcoming, while coordinating maintenance, contractors and premises teams and supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the site.

This role is known internally as a Deputy Premises Manager
SALARY: £29,546 to £31,533 per annum + Benefits LOCATION: Leicester, Leicestershire, East Midlands JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent WORKING HOURS: 40 hours per week JOB OVERVIEWThis is an excellent opportunity for a Facilities Manager / Premises Manager to make a direct contribution to a safe and effective learning environment.
Working closely with the Site Manager, the Facilities Manager / Premises Manager will help oversee maintenance, cleanliness, compliance, contractors and day-to-day premises operations.
The role also includes coordinating premises, caretaking and cleaning teams, carrying out regular checks and supporting planned maintenance and estates systems.
As Facilities Manager / Premises Manager you will bring practical facilities experience, strong organisation and sound health and safety knowledge to a varied, hands-on support role.
DUTIESYour duties as the Facilities Manager / Premises Manager include:
- Premises Operations: Support the Site Manager with the maintenance, cleanliness, safety and smooth day-to-day operation of the school premises
- Team Coordination: Coordinate and supervise premises officers, caretaking and cleaning teams to support safe, efficient and high-quality service delivery
- Contractor Management: Support external contractors, coordinate works and help ensure activities are completed safely and effectively
- Inspections and Checks: Carry out regular inspections and daily, weekly and monthly checks, identifying maintenance, repair and improvement requirements
- Planned Maintenance: Support planned maintenance schedules and respond effectively to operational and maintenance needs
- Compliance and Records: Support health and safety compliance and digital estates systems, maintaining accurate records and required checks
- Budget Support: Assist with maintenance budgets and help ensure resources are used effectively
- School Support: Work with school leadership and the wider community to respond to premises needs, emergencies and lettings requirements
- Experience in a facilities management role
- Experience managing a team, including cleaners and caretakers
- Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and other relevant legislation
- Understanding of health and safety and security issues
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
