Schoolblazer is the leading supplier of uniform and sportswear to independent schools. We are seeking a Merchandiser to support our buying team in delivering outstanding levels of stock availability and service.
Schoolblazer was founded in 2004 with a simple mission: To transform the school uniform market with a new approach to product, service and channel.
We are an online only business, creating bespoke product ranges and have delivered 24 years of consistent, profitable growth. We now supply circa 300 schools in the UK and are successfully expanding our business into Australia and New Zealand.
Role Purpose
The Fabric Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the Buying and Merchandising team by ensuring fabric information, stock levels, purchase orders and supplier communications are accurately maintained. The role helps ensure the smooth flow of fabrics through the supply chain, supporting range planning, production requirements and launch programmes.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is highly organised, numerate and analytical, with strong attention to detail and a desire to develop a career within the apparel industry. Previous fabric knowledge is not required, as full training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
Fabric Stock Management
- Process monthly fabric stock reports and investigate shortages.
- Support action plans to address stock discrepancies and minimise supply issues.
- Respond to internal fabric stock queries from colleagues and stakeholders.
- Assist with fabric movements between factories, suppliers and other organisations.
Purchasing & Supplier Management
- Raise fabric purchase orders accurately and in a timely manner.
- Liaise with mills and suppliers to obtain ex-mill dates and production updates.
- Support the resolution of invoicing discrepancies and supplier queries.
Planning & Data Management
- Maintain and update fabric trackers and planning tools.
- Collate fabric requirement data to support range planning activities.
- Create and maintain fabric records within company systems.
- Ensure all fabric information is accurate, up to date and properly documented.
- Support general system administration and data maintenance activities.
Quality & Testing
- Arrange fabric testing with external laboratories.
- Conduct basic in-house fabric testing where required.
- Create and manage gold seal submissions and continuity records.
- Maintain filing and documentation associated with testing and approvals.
General Support
- Produce reports and analysis as required.
- Support process improvements and initiatives relating to fabric management and control.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Strong Excel skills and confidence working with spreadsheets.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Numerate with the ability to analyse and interpret data.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Proactive approach and willingness to learn.
- Comfortable working with systems, data and processes.
Desirable
- Experience in an administrative, purchasing or stock control role.
- Experience working within retail, apparel, sourcing or supply chain environments.
- Familiarity with ERP systems or stock management systems.
- Please note: Previous fabric knowledge is not required. Full training will be provided.
