EYFS SEN Graduate Teaching Assistant
Immediate start until July 2026
£80 - £100 per day

Provide 1:1 and small group support to young children with SEN requirements
The RoleThe appointed EYFS SEN Graduate Teaching Assistant will support children in Nursery or Reception through play-based learning and structured early phonics, communication, and early number activities. You will deliver consistent 1:1 and small group support for children with SEN needs, helping them access routines, learning areas, carpet time, and continuous provision. You will use clear language, visual prompts, now and next boards, and small-step instructions to support attention, transitions, and independence. You will reinforce speech and language targets through modelling, repetition, and targeted questioning, and support early literacy through phonics practice, fine motor activities, and early writing readiness. You will also support regulation and behaviour by following individual strategies, spotting triggers early, and using calm, consistent responses agreed by staff. You will record key progress and what strategies work, then feed this back to the class teacher and SENCo to keep support aligned to targets and provision.
The CandidateYou bring calm, patience, and structure to early years, even when the day moves fast. You build trust quickly, keep routines consistent, and support children to communicate, regulate, and engage in learning through clear prompts and positive reinforcement. You listen to staff direction, follow individual plans closely, and focus on small daily progress in independence, language, and early skills.
- Degree at 2:2 or above in any subject
- Genuine interest in early years development and SEND support
- Confident supporting communication, attention, transitions, and behaviour through consistent routines
- Comfortable delivering 1:1 and small group support within a play-based EYFS setting
- Experience with children through nurseries, tutoring, youth work, coaching, care, or volunteering is desirable
- Professional approach to safeguarding, confidentiality, and recording concerns promptly
- Enhanced DBS required, plus references and standard school vetting before you start

You will be guided by experienced staff, supported by clear systems, and given resources and direction so your work links to classroom priorities and SEND targets from the start.
