We are now looking to expand our team with a skilled and confident Car Mechanic to support the continued growth of our busy Essex workshop.

Job Description:

This is a hands-on role focused primarily on the removal and refitting of gearboxes. No gearbox building or internal repair experience is required - this is first and foremost a fitting and removal job. However, any gearbox rebuild or repair experience will be considered a bonus.

The successful candidate will also be required to diagnose and fault-find general vehicle or engine issues when necessary, though the main emphasis is on gearbox handling.

Key Responsibilities:

• Remove and refit manual, semi-automatic, and automatic gearboxes
• Work independently in a professional, well-equipped workshop
• Fault-find and diagnose general vehicle or engine issues when required
• Ensure all work meets high safety and quality standards
• Communicate clearly with colleagues and workshop management

Candidate Requirements:

• Proven experience as a car mechanic (minimum 3 years preferred)
• Confident and competent working with various gearbox types
• Strong mechanical knowledge across a range of vehicle systems
• Ability to fault-find and problem-solve general vehicle issues
• Able to work efficiently, independently, and to deadlines
• Full UK driving licence
• Gearbox building experience is not essential, but a strong advantage
