EXPERIENCED GP RECEPTIONIST/ADMINISTRATOR

It is the duty of each Receptionist to assist in the smooth running of the Practice in general, working within the Reception area. Project a positive and friendly image to our patients and other professionals who may contact us either in person or via the telephone.

About usWe are a small practice with approximately 4300 patients based in the Marsh area of Huddersfield. Our team includes 2 GPs, ANP, Practice Nurse, 2 HCAs and our Admin & Reception Team.
Job responsibilitiesAnswering all incoming telephone calls. Diverting them as appropriate and/or taking and passing on messages.
Dealing with all telephone queries/requests from patients and acting as liaison to other staff members and professionals.
Making appointments via the computerised system.
Greeting patients at reception, noting their arrival and dealing with any query or request as appropriate.
Supporting and assisting the Doctors and Nurses during surgery times as required.
Liaising with secondary care providers and arranging transport as necessary.
Dealing with repeat prescription requests.
Assisting patients with registrations and processing the paperwork.
Filing all patient information in electronic record and/or paper records.
Maintaining patient electronic medical record. Accessing information when required.
Daily preparation of the Doctors and Nurses clinical rooms.
Ensuring Doctors surgeries are stocked with the necessary paperwork and forms to enable their surgeries to proceed without interruption.
Maintaining and encouraging adequate security measure, ensuring all clinic rooms are locked when not in use.
Liaising with attached staff, including Health Visitors, District Nurses, Midwives, Counsellors etc as required.
Supporting and encouraging other members of the Practice Team.
Maintaining the Health and Safety of all staff, patients and visitors.
Any other duties requested by the Doctors and Practice Manager.
Name badges are to be worn at all times.
Cover for Reception Team Members as and when required.
Unlocking and locking up of surgery premises.
Qualifications- GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths
- Preferably knowledge of working in a General Practice Reception team
- IT Literate including knowledge of Systmone computer systems
