Experienced Crab / Seafood Factory Manager - Orkney Islands

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Factory Manager to lead operations in our busy seafood processing facility, with a strong focus on crab processing. Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the daily running of the crab/seafood processing plant, ensuring efficiency, safety, and quality standards.
• Lead, motivate, and manage a multi-skilled production team.
• Implement and maintain strict hygiene, food safety, and quality control systems (HACCP, BRC, SALSA, etc.).
• Manage production planning, workflow, and output to meet seasonal demand and export deadlines.
• Monitor and control budgets, costs, and resources effectively.
• Maintain compliance with all relevant UK/EU seafood processing regulations.
• Liaise with suppliers, buyers, logistics partners, and regulatory bodies.

Essential Criteria:

• Proven management experience in seafood processing, ideally crab processing.
• Strong leadership skills with a hands-on, problem-solving approach.
• In-depth knowledge of food safety, quality assurance, and compliance standards.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet production targets.
• IT literate (MS Office, production management systems).

Desirable:

• Experience working in remote or island-based operations.
• Knowledge of international seafood markets and export processes.
• Formal qualifications in food safety/processing.
