Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced finance professional to join a leading international insurance business as Expense Actuals Manager. This is a key position within the finance function, offering the opportunity to take ownership of expense reporting, strengthen financial controls and drive improvements across month-end processes and management reporting. You will play a central role in ensuring accurate and timely financial delivery, working closely with senior stakeholders and business partners while overseeing both an internal team and outsourced finance resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Take ownership of expense ratio reporting, ensuring accuracy, consistency and clear explanations of movements.

  • Lead the month-end close process, ensuring deadlines and reporting requirements are consistently met.

  • Coordinate inputs from finance business partners and offshore teams to ensure timely and accurate delivery.

  • Review expense movements, investigate variances and provide meaningful financial analysis.

  • Prepare and deliver management information and executive-level reporting packs.

  • Maintain a robust control environment, identifying risks and ensuring appropriate financial governance.

  • Lead and develop a team of two direct reports, alongside oversight of outsourced finance resources.

  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, operational efficiency and the quality of financial information.

  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders across the wider finance function to resolve issues and improve delivery.

Candidate Profile
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with strong experience in financial reporting, expense accounting or financial control.

  • Proven experience managing month-end reporting and delivering accurate financial information to tight deadlines.

  • Strong understanding of financial controls, reconciliations, variance analysis and reporting processes.

  • Experience managing or coordinating teams, with the ability to organise workloads and drive accountability.

  • Comfortable working with senior stakeholders and coordinating inputs across multiple teams.

  • Strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

  • A continuous improvement mindset, with the confidence to challenge existing processes and implement more effective ways of working.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on finance leader looking to take ownership of a critical reporting area, make a tangible impact on the wider business and lead improvements within a complex, international finance environment.
