Jamie Wilson Productions (JWP) are seeking an exceptional and highly experienced theatre professional to join their Senior Leadership Team.
The Executive Producer (EP) takes ownership of the successful delivery and commercial viability of their productions, with a primary focus on London/West End, supporting the oversight of touring and international productions as required.
The EP operates as senior strategic and delivery lead and will work collaboratively across departments to ensure productions are realised to the highest artistic and commercial standards.
Reporting to the CEO as part of the JWP Senior Leadership team, the Executive Producer holds senior decision-making responsibility on assigned productions, operating in close collaboration with Jamie Wilson (Producer) and the Senior Leadership Team, made up of Director of Production and Director of Touring, Finance Director, Marketing Director and Head of Development.
This is a pivotal role requiring a sophisticated balance of creative leadership, commercial acumen, financial oversight and stakeholder management.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Production Leadership
- Provide strategic oversight across the full lifecycle of productions, from pre-production through to delivery and long-term commercial management.
- Serve as the senior lead and authority across relevant productions, being the primary point of contact for senior creative teams, producers, and key stakeholders.
- Align creative ambition with commercial viability, maintaining a balance between artistic integrity and financial sustainability.
- Lead star casting strategy in collaboration with key stakeholders.
- Work to maintain the artistic integrity of the production throughout the run.
- Lead clear communication across productions, bringing together insights from Senior Leadership team.
Working in collaboration with the Director of Production:
- Overall responsibility for the delivery and on-going performance of relevant productions.
- Resolve complex operational, financial, personnel or reputational challenges and risks with decisive and clear leadership.
Strategy, Business Affairs & Legal
- Negotiate complex co-production agreements.
- Contribute to venue strategy and negotiations with theatre owners.
- Lead high-level negotiations on licensing and rights agreements.
- Translate internationally-originated productions for the UK market and vice versa.
- Drive a strategic approach to the long-term exploitation of intellectual property.
Financial Management & Oversight
- Assess and present the artistic and commercial viability of prospective productions.
- Hold accountability for P&L performance across multiple productions.
- Ensure financial rigour, accuracy of financial reporting and commercial oversight.
- Maintain full oversight of financial models, budgets and commercial viability and performance. Contribute to capitalisation strategy and investor alignment.
Marketing & Sales Performance
Working in collaboration with the Marketing Director:
- Set financial and sales targets.
- Assign budget to the marketing and communications campaign, track success and respond strategically to sales patterns.
- Attend weekly marketing meetings, contributing creatively to campaigns, with a view to wider financial parameters.
- Represent JWP at press, marketing and promotional events, including live and pre-record broadcast, and staged events.
Culture & Collaboration Across Departments
- Contribute to strategic decision-making as part of the Senior Leadership Team.
- Work in close partnership with the Director of Production, Director of Touring, Marketing Director, Finance Director, and Head of Development.
- Provide insights, alignment and cross-departmental leadership.
- Champion an inclusive, positive and safe working environment, while supporting and propelling and ambitious and innovative culture.
Stakeholder & Relationship Management
- Represent JWP at senior level across the industry, developing and maintaining industry relationships.
- Navigate complex relationships with artist, creative and agents with authority and discretion.
- Deliver clear and consistent communication with all stakeholders.
- Communicate clearly and regularly to ensure internal alignment.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
Essential Experience & Skills
- Significant senior-level experience in commercial theatre production, particularly within the West End and/or Broadway.
- Demonstrable experience of leading production transfers of varying scales, across the sector.
- Significant experience directly negotiating the following agreements: co-production, licensing, commissioning, author, underlying rights, creative, and artist.
- Thorough understanding of production delivery, particularly delivering productions on-budget and on schedule through pre-production periods.
- Solid understanding of auxiliary income strategies, including but not limited to licensing, subsidiary rights, and merchandise.
- Highly developed commercial acumen, adept at writing and interpreting recoupment schedules, Balance Sheets and Profit and Loss statements.
- Attention to detail, particularly with a focus on long form agreements.
- Ability to demonstrate innovation within the sector.
- Experience working with large scale production budgets.
- Proven ability to manage and influence complex creative and commercial relationships.
- Strong judgement in balancing artistic ambition with financial viability.
Desirable
- Experience of creating and contracting for cast albums.
- Experience negotiating West End venue agreements.
- Experience representing the industry at an industrial level.
