Veterinary Surgeon - Join a Friendly, Forward-Thinking Team in Essex
Location: Essex - Thames Gateway Development Area (bordering Greater London)
Hours: Part-time (1 weekday + 1:4 weekends)
Contract: 6-12 month fixed term (potential for permanent role)
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
The Team- 4 Vets (one with a Certificate in Diagnostic Imaging)
- 3 Qualified Nurses (including Clinical Lead & Deputy Head Nurse)
- 3 Student Nurses
- 1 Veterinary Care Assistant
- 6 Client Care Advisors
- A Practice Manager and Reception Manager
Between them, they share interests in orthopaedics, internal medicine, and diagnostic imaging, and a senior vet has recently completed her Certificate in Diagnostic Imaging. They foster a collaborative, positive environment where learning and development are encouraged at every level.
About the RoleThis role is ideal for a vet who enjoys seeing cases through from start to finish, with plenty of opportunity for hands-on surgical experience and clinical growth.
- Part-time: 1 weekday (9am-7pm) and 1:4 weekends (Saturday 9am-6pm, Sunday 10:30am-4:30pm)
- No OOH or bank holidays
- Initial 6-12 month contract, with potential for permanent position
- Caseload approx. 60% dogs / 40% cats
They'll provide full support if you have 6-12 months' experience upwards, and are equally happy to consider vets who prefer consult-only roles or those looking to expand surgical skills.
Looking For- RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon
- 1-2 years' experience in small animal practice preferred
- Confident in routine consultations and first-opinion cases
- Excellent communicator and strong team player
- Genuine passion for animal welfare and high-quality patient care
- Interest in developing clinical or surgical skills (certificates encouraged and supported)
- Competitive salary (dependent on experience/FTE)
